Pool Leak Detection in Phoenix
Losing more than a half inch a day? That is not evaporation. We pressure test the plumbing, dye test the shell and listen under the deck until we find it. The pool stays full.

How much is your pool losing?
Drag the slider to what you are seeing. Phoenix evaporation tops out around a half inch a day in summer. Anything past that is a leak.
Not sure? Mark the water line with tape and check it tomorrow.
982 gallons a week
About 140 gallons a day, or roughly $19 a month in water at typical Valley rates.
Borderline. Could be summer evaporation, could be a slow leak. Do the bucket test, or let us test it.
Estimates. Phoenix evaporation runs about ¼" to ½" a day.
How it works
How we find a pool leak
Four tests, in order, with the pool full. Nothing gets opened until we know exactly where.
-
Pressure test the plumbing
Each line is isolated and pressurized on its own. A line that will not hold tells us where to listen.
-
Dye test the shell
Skimmer, lights, returns, main drain and any crack get checked by hand with dye, in the water.
-
Listen under the deck
Electronic listening pinpoints the break through concrete, so one small opening replaces a trench.
-
Written findings
Where it is, what failed and what it takes to fix, with photos, before we leave the driveway.
Where pool leaks hide
Usually one of these.
Most pool leaks are at a fitting or a penetration in the shell, not the plumbing. We check every one before anyone talks about digging.
- Skimmer throat and mouth
- Light niche and conduit
- Return and suction fittings
- Main drain
- Plumbing under the deck
- Shell cracks and tile line
- Spa spillway and jets
- Equipment pad

Phoenix evaporation runs about a quarter to a half inch a day in summer, less in winter. Losing more than that, or losing water with the cover on, is a leak. Set a bucket of pool water on a step, mark both levels, and compare after 24 hours.
No. Every test is done with the pool full. Draining a pool in Phoenix heat risks the plaster and the shell, and it hides the leak we are trying to find.
Two to three hours for most pools. Pools with a spa, water features or long plumbing runs take longer. You get the findings before we leave.
Electronic listening pinpoints it through the concrete. We mark the spot, and the repair opens one small area there instead of trenching the deck to find it.
Often. Fittings, light niches, skimmer cracks and similar repairs are done on the spot and re-tested. Plumbing repairs under the deck are quoted from the findings and scheduled.
Detection is a flat fee, quoted before we come out. Repairs are priced separately once the leak is found, and nothing starts without your approval.
